DETOX DIETS - NOT SO SURE??

Having been in the nutritional game for around twenty years I have done my fair share of ‘detox diets’ - my remit to myself was always ‘don’t knock it till you have tried it’ so I put my poor body through rather too many often-ridiculous crazy curveballs! The way I see it (and science backs me up here) is that many of them are way too dramatic and create something akin to over-stressing our detox capabilities which can throw our bodies into a deal of confusion and it may take some time to get it back to something near norm. I was fit and healthy when I embarked on most of these - I dread to think how I might have coped if I was not so!

It’s not only the liver that is involved in detoxification – our kidneys, lungs, skin, bowels, lymph system and immune system are also major players. No wonder it requires very careful thought before embarking on such a ‘voyage’.

However, if you are determined to ‘go it alone’ my recommendation would be a ‘bit of a cleanse’ rather than a ‘detox’. I have an 6-8 day diet/cleanse that I do from time to time and I certainly come out of it feeling a great deal more refreshed - I am not so sure right now is the time however - but you may wish to give it a try… click here to have a look and make your own decisions….
